Although the sun is almost 150 million kilometres away, this star has had the most impact on our planet. But while some are busy chasing the sun for sun-kissed skin, architects are all about creating sun-kissed spaces. In definition, “passive solar energy is the collection and distribution of energy obtained by the sun using natural means”. The simple concept and process of implementing passive solar energy systems have provided buildings with heat, lighting, mechanical power, and electricity in the most environmentally-conscious way possible. |

Corian® Exteriors enables monolithic design, unique patterns and lighting effects uncommon in standard façades materials. It demonstrates strength and purity, reliability and performance. But above all, it is inspiration – a maverick material that can transform any space. Effisus fire-rated technology Class A2-s1, d0 is being used at Kensington Row to ensure improved fire safety of this £2 billion development in West Kensington by St Edward, part of the Berkeley Group. The building façades achieved improved fire security through the application of Effisus Vapour FR and Effisus Breather FR systems, a vapour control layer and breather membrane, both fire-rated Class A2-s1, d0 tested according to EN13501-1 (tested with accessories). Both solutions are being integrated on the project for global protection of facades against driving rain, wind and moisture, minimizing condensation risk, mould growth and corrosion of all the façade components. All combined with maximum fire safety - a new level on building façades fire safety. |
