 Canopy Hotel, Hilton's lifestyle brand opened its first West Coast property in the Pearl District of Portland last summer. The hotel's exterior, designed by ZGF Architects, facilitates a transition in the Pearl District, between the old and new, by incorporating complimentary materials that impart a contemporary sentiment. The most prominent are the custom-corrugated panels cladding the hotel's facade. Pure + FreeFrom partnered with the design team to create a custom finish for the metal panels, which transform throughout the day according to the angle and intensity of the viewer and light. The finish is a raw aluminum with a Lumiflon clear coat and contains a brass pearl with two levels of gloss. It moves from a deeper green bronze in indirect light, reflecting the heritage of the site, to a bright brass, revealing the contemporary contrast. Metal, unlike any other building material, has the innate ability to change distinctly and beautifully in appearance depending on weather, light, form and geographical location. | |
 Bradley Corporation now offers its TerreonRE solid surface with recycled content, this solid surface lasts a lifetime and can easily be repaired and renewed, thus minimizing the need to replace and dispose of it. Terreon and TerreonRE products are completely molded including bowls, overflows, backsplashes and aprons. Molded product eliminates fabrication and the use of sealants and adhesives. With all the previous mentioned efforts, Bradley also stresses the health importance of regular handwashing, and to meet that goal, Bradley conducts an annual Healthy Hand Washing Survey. The survey highlights Americans’ self-reported handwashing beliefs and behaviors, sometimes revealing disconnects in Americans’ handwashing follow-through. | |
